Get started
- Open PrepayGuard from the Apps section of Shopify admin.
- Complete setup if the app reports that its payment rule is not active.
- Confirm the displayed name of Cash on Delivery or another payment method in Shopify Admin → Settings → Payments.
- Add that exact name, or a carefully chosen matching alias, in PrepayGuard's payment-method settings.
- Mark the intended Shopify code discount as prepaid-only.
- Test the complete checkout sequence before using the rule live.
Expected checkout behavior
- COD remains visible before a marked discount is applied.
- Applying a marked discount hides only the configured payment method.
- Online or other unconfigured payment methods remain available.
- Removing the marked discount makes the hidden method visible again.
- An unmarked discount does not change payment methods.
Troubleshooting
The payment method is still visible
- Confirm the discount is a code discount and is currently active.
- Confirm its prepaid-only switch is enabled in PrepayGuard.
- Compare the checkout payment-method name with the configured name or alias, including local spelling and capitalization differences.
- Check that the PrepayGuard payment rule reports a healthy status.
- Start a fresh checkout session and apply the code again.
The payment method does not return
- Remove the marked discount and wait for checkout to recalculate.
- Confirm the method is still active and eligible in Shopify payment settings for the current checkout.
- Refresh or begin a fresh checkout if Shopify has cached the step.
The app reports a setup problem
Follow the in-app recovery action to create or repair the payment rule. If the issue continues, include the shop domain, the time of the test, and a screenshot that contains no customer or payment information when contacting support.
